Catching up on a few movies (nothing recently released, however).
Darkon (2006): A documentary about the live action wargaming organization of the same. Nice production values compared to many similar works. I think they did an excellent job of capturing many of the different angles and motivation behind the hobby; including some of the ones I’ve been disatisified with myself in other organizations. I’m hoping to see Monster Camp to contrast/compare.
24 Hour Party People (2002): A superb documentary about the Manchester music scene from the mid 70s through the late 90s. Anyone who’s ever enjoyed anything in the spectrum of the Sex Pistols through Joy Division / New Order, should see this. Tony Wilson’s ongoing dialogue with the fourth wall is hilarious and insightful (nice change from the narration heavy method of some documentary films).
