Shanghai’d Into Google Search Results Beta

As anyone knows, I’m a huge fan of Google’s products but this morning they sent me into a bit of a panic.  I noticed that the search results page in Firefox was VERY different from the one in Chrome and Internet Explorer.  Trusting and optimistic person that I am, I immediately thought “browser hijack” and went into a flurry of scans, add-on deactivation and what not.  Turns out I have been randomly selected (without notice or choice) to experience Google’s new, experimental search engine results page.  Thanks a lot!  🙁

Furthermore, there is no option to deactivate this “experience” though some folks have recommended clearing all Google cookies and things should return to normal (aside from having to relogg into all your Google products).  I’ll let you know how that goes. Thanks again!

Personally, I find the new SERP kind of cluttered and “busy”, reminiscent of the Yahoo one before it REALLY jumped the shark.
