Best of Bootie is Back; Tasty Mash-Ups

I’ll admit I have a particular weakness for clever musical mash-ups. Last year I downloaded and thoroughly enjoyed Best of Bootie 2005. I didn’t think I’d see another album but lo and behold, there’s another one out as a free download in DRM-free mp3 format.

Best of Bootie is a monthly mash-up bootleg party in San Franciso and L.A. Discography and downloads after the cut.

    I absolutely love these things.

Aren’t they fun? I’m not sure if it’s the skillful way the DJs mix two or more songs together with attention to beat, lyrics and rhythm or if it’s the nostalgia & novelty at the same time of older songs alongside newer ones. Perhaps, it’s all of that put together. Anyhow, if you’re interested, I’ll be sure to post other good mash-up finds as they come up (although the RIAA is getting more and more aggressive about cease and desisting DJs, sadly).
