Definitely one of the better in the series. I particularly liked the lecturer’s ability to fathom the depths of topics like gifting, material exchanges and social systems in a way that is uncluttered by the political “noise” inherent in non-anthropological classification systems and theories (which seem clumsy and artificial in comparison, afterwards). The conclusion which weighs the effects of globalization, pro and con, is sobering.
