I am deeply sorry I didn’t read this years ago when it was recommended to me. Shroeder’s “world” of Virga is wonderfully rich and stimulates the imagination. His characters are of a strange but charming cast that is one part steampunk (forgive me), one part pirates and one part sci-fi.
