This poem was highly recommended by Pipistrella. It has come very complex and intricate imagery. I’m reading and re-reading it, but only make slow progress in unraveling the author’s Byzantine lexicon.
I probably didn’t fathom a tenth of the labyrinthine imagery Eliot employs, but I take comfort in the fact that neither do most people (those that claim to do so are either brilliant or deluded). In retrospect, The Waste Land is probably more the sort of work you go back to again and again for more reflection, rather than the sort you check off a list as “finished”.
