I think they’ve gotten rid of some of the bicycles, I’ve seen a lot for sale recently on some of the surplus sites.

I think that would be very unwise of them. In a post-collapse world of dwindling fuel supplies, do you know how hard it is going to be to outrun the pollution-enhanced zombies on foot? 😉

Seriously, though, do you have a link. I’d love a nice swiss surplus bike!

I saw them on Sportsman’s Guide a few months ago, but I just did a search on their website and it didn’t come up, so they must be sold out of them.

Shoot. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised they moved fast. Those retro-style bikes are quite popular at the moment, and authentic ones must be very coveted.

In my searches, I found out why they replaced them – they came out with an updated model in 1995, and it took them 12 years to trade out all of them and put the old stock on the surplus market.

Ah well, my dream commuter bike will have to remain the Schwinn 2007 International series (hybrid bike, internalized drive and gears): http://www.schwinnbike.com/images/catalog/r_20.16.AS7_CONTINENTAL_M.jpg
