I like the cul-de-sac commune article. Which Stephenson are you referring to? The cultural enclaves in Diamond Age?
It’s been a while since I’ve read them, but I recall the Burbclaves being a feature of Snowcrash. Diamond Age was also superb. I believe the societal groups in DA were less geographical and more ideological and economic (Phyles).
